If we do not love, nurture, train and disciple our children then there will be no church tomorrow. At LBC our children are an integral part of the family. Our aim each Sunday is that each child can go away having enjoyed their experience and having learned at least one basic biblical truth.
Currently our Sunday Kidschurch is divided into 5 age groups.
Crèche children are generally under 4 but if they are ready for a more formal setting then they can move forward.
Stepping Stones children are generally those in Kindy and Pre-Primary. Their program is simple and exciting and includes some form of craft activity.
Oasis Children are Primary Years 1 to 4. Year 4 children are honoured as our “Junior Leaders”. Their role is to assist the younger children where required, to befriend and encourage new children, and generally be a helper. The program for Oasis children is similar to the Stepping Stones activities but with a little more complexity.
God’s Crew are our Year 5 & 6 children. Their program involves more discussion and less crafty activities.
Sunday Youth Years 7+. See Youth@LBC for details.
We believe that as our children are an important part of the family that they gather with their own families for the beginning of the church service and some worship time. They commence their own activities 15 minutes later.
From Kindy age to Year 6 all children meet together briefly for a “together time” before moving into their age appropriate classes. This time can include a variety of activities from music and worship, skits, puppet shows, games, learning Bible verses or anything the leader may wish to do that is appropriate for the lesson being taught.
All the wonderful people who volunteer to be a part of the important ministry have 'Working with Children' Cards. We also have trained First-Aid workers rostered in the Kids Ministry for every service. The whole team are fantastic caring people who make a huge effort to nurture our beautiful kids.
What can you do for this ministry? Pray for the children and the workers – it is a big task. Talk to the kids – make them feel special. Ask them about their artwork and what they have learned. You may be surprised what they know – others have been!!!
